About Coaching
A coach understands your current situations, helps you clarify your goals, and supports you to reach your goals quickly. A coach listens to your story with 100% attention and guides you in the process of identifying goals and executing action plans to get to your goals.
What are the difference between a coach and a therapist?
A therapist helps a client with his/her emotional issues in the past; issues which prevent a client from moving forward in his/her life. In this nature, the focus of the topic is mostly in the past to understand the present. On the other hand, in a coaching relationship, a coach listens to a client’s desire and helps a client reach his/her goals. A coach and a client focus on the future as a continuation of the present. With a trustful partnership between a coach and a client, clients find their own truth in present, move toward their goals in the future, and realize their dreams.
Relationship between a coach and a client
A relationship between a coach and a client is always equal partnership. It is not an advisory relationship in that a coach gives “answers” to a client. The reason is because YOU have all the answers you need in you. A coach brainstorms ideas with you and ask various questions to draw answers from you. In the process, a coach provides you with a structure and resources needed.
People who work with a coach often experience:
- No longer lost in their own thoughts.
- See their goals clearly.
- No more wasting their time on “thinking” about their issues.
- New discovery about themselves.
- A coach has objective and independent perspectives to support them, unlike their friends or family members who can have their own agenda.
- Encouraged and supported all the time by their coach toward their goals which they choose for themselves.
- Regularly scheduled sessions allow them to focus on what is important in their lives and to prioritize daily activities.
