Meet the Coach
Coach Profile
Since falling in love with Ernie & Bert (Sesame Street) at age four, while watching TV in Japan with her sister, Misa’s fascination with America began. It was heightened by learning English in Japan and a summer learning experience in San Diego, CA.
After working for one of Japan’s largest banks for 7 years, Misa’s interest in using English speaking skills in a working environment led her to the United States and to college in Boston. Her initial plan was to go back to Japan after two years of studying, but she was captivated by a field of psychology. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology at Suffolk University in Boston. Further, her cross cultural experiences led her to a Master’s in Intercultural Relations at Lesley University. A firm theoretical grasp of developing one’s self while experiencing new (and foreign) cultures evolved. She has trained professionals and students in cultural adjustment seminars and in one-to-one counseling.
And then Japan called. Or rather, Morgan Stanley’s Japan division hired Misa as corporate trainer. Her dreams were being realized, but…She felt an even stronger pull to work one-on-one with people utilizing her background as a cultural expert between Japan and U.S.
Upon coming back to the States, she started to undertake a big life time question of “What do I really want with my life?” She decided to pursue her dream that she had almost give up, of becoming a coach and started Lylus Coaching.
People describe her as thoughtful, trustworthy, positive, and genuine. She is the kind of person who values unlimited possibilities, accomplishing one’s dreams, and enjoying the process of getting there. Misa works with clients giving her 100% attention with a supportive manner that easily allows people to feel comfortable.
She currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her two cats (Tora & Mimi) and, oh yes, her husband. With a strong love of nature, she can be found watching the beautiful clouds, while enjoying the warm, southern climate.
